Last weekend Ryan Millen had his Trick Truck debut at the Best in the Desert, Vegas to Reno desert race. Millen was entered to compete in qualifying for the Terrible Herbst Motorsports #19 Trick Truck and run the first 150 miles of the “longest longest off-road race in the United States”.
After spending the beginning of this racing season in the Herbst built Spec Trophy Truck, qualifying 1st in 3 of 3 races and gaining podium finishes, it was time to step up to the big boys.
Qualifying took place just outside of Vegas on a 3-4 mile desert loop. Millen was one of the last teams to compete for qualifying and qualified an impressive 6th out of 50 Trick Trucks, gaining the team a highly advantaged starting position.
Race day started off with Millen setting an impressive pace. Starting 6th on the road and pushing hard he maintained his position and began gaining on and passing some of the top trucks. Then, pushing hard around race mile 80, Millen made a mistake that took them out of the race. The team tried to limp the truck to the next pit to continue but was unable to reach the pit.
“Racing has the biggest highs and the lowest lows. I’ve had a lot of highs over the last couple of years so this one feels extra low. I know where I can improve. Thanks again to @terribleherbst for the opportunity. #icrashed #iwannagofast @monsterenergy @orcacoolers @herbstsmithfab”
