Day fours itinerary would have us head out to Laguna Ignacio for a couple of hours of whale watching. Then onto Scorpion Bay to camp at the legendary surf break.
This section of road that is permanently washed and one bad decision left tour new friend Juan stuck in the mud. He was more than grateful for a tow out by Mike. We ended up meeting up with him again on the whale boat.
Our whale watching panga and guide.
Getting covered in whale exhalation was a strange highlight for the day.
The whales were pretty hard to miss. I think we spotted around 15 or so in the two hours we were out there.
Back on the road to Scorpion Bay.
Thomas is one of the many ranchers we met on our journey. His ranch is about 4hrs in either direction from civilization. So you can imagine his excitement to see some dirty gringos. We stopped and chatted to him and offered some common supplies like AAA batteries. He was more than grateful!
Scorpion Bay
Chris borrowed a board and headed out. The water was not warm, but Scorpion Bay is such a legendary break that he couldn’t pass the opportunity.
