Wow, so many stories to report from an adventure like this. It’s a little daunting trying to remember every experience. So we’re going to break the trip into each day. We hope you enjoy “riding” along with us through a pretty crazy journey.
Here’s a little bit of the basics of the adventure.
What: 1000 mile, Seven day, off-road trip following the smoother roads of the Baja 1000 race course.
Who: Chris on the moto, Doug and Mike in FJ’s, and Craig in the 4Runner.
Day one’s plan was to cross the border in the morning and finish in Gonzaga Bay on the Sea of Cortez. Ten miles after crossing the border we jumped on the Comparde trail to Valley T where we had lunch. After lunch we headed to El Diablo Dry Lake then to Morelia Junction, across Zoo road and into San Felipe. From San Felipe we drove a couple of hours south into Gonzaga Bay for our first nights sleep. Total Mileage of day one from the border to the hotel was 300 miles.
